Pickets Rails & Posts are the basic biulding blocks of most fence sections
Picket
pickets are vertical member of the fence section. It comes in different sizes & color. There are different kinds of pickets. The most common type of picket are the tongue & groove pickets. Which are used in our newYork Style, New Mexico style. The tongue of one pickets fits into the groove of adjacent picket giving a full privacy fence.
Post
Post is the most important member of a fence section it holds the rails & the section in place Post tke the load of the fence and is either mounted on a flat surface with a flange or goes 2 to 3 feet under the ground. The Post are routed in such a way that they accomodate the rails. Depending on the location of the post they are termed as
Line Post
These constitues the largest no of post for most fence jobs. They are usually at every 8 feet or 6 feet depending on the size of the sections used for fencing. Line post are routed on bothe side (opposite to each other so as to accomodate rails/ sections from each side.
Corner Post
Corner post are used on corners & have their adjacent faces routed. so to giver the desired corner angle in the fence.
End Post
These are routed only on one side and are used in ends usually by wall or pillar. Routed holes on one side accomodates section while the other end is not routed.
End Gate Post
These are usually designed more stronger then regular post in most cases to hold the Gate. These post are routed only on one side to receive the fence section.
Blank Post / Blank Gate Post
These Posts are never routed at all. Blank Posts are mostly used where you have wall on one side & a gate on the other side of the post.
